BURUNDI NEMBA KAYANZA
Burundi has long been overlooked in comparison to its East African neighbors, but its smallholder-driven production quietly delivers some of the most exceptional coffee on the continent.
All producers delivering to the Nemba washing station are smallholders, farming at around 1,700 meters above sea level near the Kibila forest. The average farmer tends roughly 250 trees — often right in their backyard — yielding around 200 to 300 kilos of cherry each season. Small in scale, remarkable in cup.
